What is CBD Oil and how does it work?

The CBD Oil products sold at One Soul are manufactured from high-quality industrial-grade hemp plants from regulated American Farms.

The industrial-grade hemp used contains Cannabidiol (CBD) which is naturally occurring within the plant. CBD is just one of over 85 cannabinoids that are identified in the cannabis plant. Our oil is CO2 extracted resulting in a solvent-free, pure product straight from the stalk of the hemp plant.

The CBD Oil derived from the hemp plant affects and binds with the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) when taken in our OneSoul oil products, leading to a positive effect on health and well-being.

Cannabis/Weed VS CBD

Cannabis plants have two primary classifications: Indica and Sativa. While weed (also known as marijuana, herb, pot, grass, bud, ganja, Mary Jane, and a vast number of other slang terms) can be considered a member of either the Indica or Sativa families. Hemp, which is used to make CBD Oils, is a member of the Cannabis Sativa family.

Because Hemp and Weed both derive from the Cannabis Sativa family, they do share certain similarities, however, due to each plant’s biological structure, they have several very distinct and crucial differences.

THC and CBD are in both Weed and Hemp. Weed contains much more THC than hemp, while hemp has a lot of CBD.

Chemical Structure – CBD and THC have the same chemical formula – 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and two oxygen atoms. The difference lies in the way the atoms are arranged. That gives CBD and THC different chemical properties, and they affect your body differently.

How CBD and THC affect the Body

THC is the main psychoactive compound in marijuana. It’s what makes people feel “high.”

We have two types of cannabinoid receptors in our bodies. THC binds with receptors, mostly in the brain, that control pain, mood, and other feelings. That’s why THC can make you feel euphoric and give you that so-called high.

CBD doesn’t cause that high. Instead, it’s thought to work with other elements in the body linked to feelings of well-being.

Medical Benefits

People take CBD products to help with everything from arthritis and Crohn’s disease to diabetes and multiple sclerosis. It is very effective for helping with anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain.

CBD is a hot topic for researchers. The National Institutes of Health clinical trials database shows more than 160 trials involving CBD that are either active or recruiting.

The History of Hemp

Hemp has a vast history that cannot go unnoticed. One Soul is at the forefront of what we believe, is the next revolution in medical history.

Hemp is among the oldest industries on the planet, going back more than 10,000 years to the beginnings of pottery.

In the UK, King Henry VIII made hemp cultivation compulsory by law in 1533. For every 60 acres, farmers had to grow about 1/4 acre of flax or hemp, or else they would face a fine for breaking the law. They could even pay their taxes with Hemp.

At present in the UK, Hemp cultivation was re-legalized in 1993 and is now a licensed activity.

Although the size of the UK hemp cultivation sector is currently extremely small (estimated that the maximum area under cultivation is no more than 810 hectares) there is a lot of pioneering research at York University and other leading institutions to bring it more commercially available in the UK.
